Folkstyle Wrestling Training (K–12) in Chandler, AZ

Folkstyle wrestling—also known as collegiate wrestling—is the primary style used in U.S. high schools and colleges. At Southwest Wrestling Academy, our folkstyle program runs year-round and is the foundation of our training system for boys and girls in Chandler and the surrounding areas.
Led by D1 All-American Curtis Owen, we focus on teaching strong fundamentals: takedowns, escapes, reversals, riding position, breakdowns, and pinning combinations. Whether your wrestler is a complete beginner or preparing for high-level competition, folkstyle is the key to long-term development.

What Is Folkstyle Wrestling?

Folkstyle wrestling emphasizes control, position, and pinning. Athletes learn to maintain top pressure, escape from bottom, and score from neutral. The goal is to develop mastery of all three positions while building strength, discipline, and mental toughness.
